Nem toda causa entra no mesmo lugar da frase, e essa é a parte que o português não avisa. Since e as apresentam um motivo que ambos os lados já conhecem, costumam abrir a frase e soam mais formais; because entrega informação nova e cai naturalmente no meio. A escolha errada não quebra a gramática: ela trata como já sabido algo que o ouvinte ainda não sabia, e isso muda o tom da conversa. Vale reparar também na diferença de grafia entre why, que abre pergunta, e because, que responde: português aproxima os dois num "porque" quase igual, e é daí que nasce metade dos deslizes escritos.
Traduzir frase inteira ensina o que traduzir palavra não ensina: a ordem, o tempo verbal e a preposição só aparecem quando a frase existe. Cada uma destas aceita 11.5 formas diferentes em média — porque quase nunca há uma resposta única, e reconhecer as variantes é metade do trabalho de entender quem fala.
